What the air balance technician knows about the engineer

The air balance technician finds out immediately upon walking into the building if the design engineer has followed a specific procedure for designing your facility.
The procedure that a good balancing technician understands and a good engineer follows is very simple and consists of four steps:
(1) What is the required indoor temperature and humidity levels.
(2) The design conditions that occur during the hottest 2% of the year and coldest 2% of the year.
(3) The maximum number of people who will occupy the space simultaneously and the heat load from all lighting and appliances.
(4) And finally the outdoor air that must be brought into the space.

Out next article will discuss what the engineer does with this information.
