Before air balancing make sure your system is designed correctly.
Our last article “What an air balance technician in arizona should know about selection of equipment” we talked about how the engineers selects equipment. Now the actual design of the duct work in the building can begin.
The air distribution system will be laid out on a ceiling plan to deliver the capacity of the equipment to the space in proportion to the heat being produced in the space. For example south facing exterior rooms will need more capacity than other areas.
The engineer will select diffusers and/or registers based on how much air (measured in CFM) they will deliver. The duct work will be sized to deliver the required air to each outlet. Each outlet should have a balancing damper near the main ductwork to enable efficient balancing.
